November 2009 Finn Kirkland

Picture

Finn Kirkland. After spending 3 years as an ELT teacher in Spain, Sweden and the UK, Finn joined Macmillan Publishers in 2004, focusing on the Scandinavian market for a number of years, before taking on the role of Business Development Manager in 2008. With the increasing demand for electronic resources, Finn’s main area of focus is on digital materials for the classroom.
This year once again MATEFL joined forces with Macmillan Publishers and Audio Visual Ltd to bring over a 'foreign' speaker: Finn Kirkland. The seminar was held on Saturday 28th November at IELS in Sliema and was very well attended and in fact the room was full to capacity.

Technology in today's EFL classroom
This session provided tips and ideas on how to creatively use the internet, and other digital resources, in your class, together with your standard print products. Examples were taken from a selection of materials and websites from Macmillan Education, including the Interactive Whiteboard product for the popular adult course New Inside Out. The aim was to provide teachers with a range of digital options, and show just how beneficial such resources can be within the ELT classroom.
