MATEFL NOVEMBER WEBINAR

The November webinar held on Saturday, 13th November 2021 with MATEFL honorary president, Alan Marsh presenting the webinar.  It was well attended by over 100 members and was full of very useful ideas to spice up your reading and listening tasks.

Alan has worked for many years in teacher training and teacher development with language teachers from all over the world. He is an international conference speaker, Cambridge CELTA and DELTA teacher trainer and is a co-author (with Antonia Clare) of The Creative Teacher’s Compendium (Pavilion ELT). He is particularly interested in fostering creativity in teachers and learners.  He is based in Gosport, UK and Malta.

Whizz-bang Reading and Listening Tasks
Communicative Language Teaching offers a useful framework for developing reading and listening skills. Albeit effective, the before-during-after task framework can tend to be just a little repetitive. Here are some whizz-bang tricks and tweaks for reading and listening tasks to really engage and energise our learners in both online and in-person classes. Each ‘trick or tweak’ is a template technique and can be used again and again with a variety of reading and listening texts at all levels.
