AClass Academy of English Malta hosted this year's summer multi-speaker event which was held on Saturday, 14th June 2025 at their premises of STC Block A, Alamein Road, Pembroke.  There was a good turn out and everyone enjoyed the various session they attended.

These were the sessions on offer:
09.00 -10.30 - Session 1
Kevin Spiteri -  E3 – Entertainment, Engagement, Experience
Discover new ways to energise your EFL classroom through games, storytelling, and media! In this hands-on CPD session, you'll rotate through interactive stations—including podcasting, gaming, and roleplay—designed to boost engagement and creativity. Experience the power of entertainment-based learning and leave with fresh ideas for your teaching toolkit.

Rebecca Portelli - Uncovering the Reading Process
Reading is usually a private matter and is considered a somewhat silent process, but during this session some of the skills that strong readers rely on when encountering a new text were "uncovered".
(This session replaced ' Looking for my other half! - a session on incorporating idioms in the classroom which was scheduled to be led by Lindsey Sant, who unfortunately was not well on the day.  Special thanks to Rebecca for coming to the rescue and leading a interesting session on improving students' reading skills)

Daniel Bartolo  -  Beyond the Screen: Digital Literacy as the New Educational Compass
Unlock your future with digital literacy! Master essential tech skills, AI tools and apps. Boost your career, access global resources, think critically, and thrive in a connected world. Start your journey beyond the screen. Empower your teaching, work, and life today! In this practical session, you will have the opportunity to try out new software apps and be inspired to incorporate these and others in your classes.

11.00 - 12.30  - Session 2
Aleksandar Mitovski - How to present and perfect the Present Perfect
It’s the tense that makes everyone tense! For both newbie and veteran teachers, the Present Perfect seems a concept so impossible to successfully communicate to language learners. Moreover, it’ll take your students a while before they add it to their daily repertoire and are able to use it effectively.

Sondes Gharbi - How do we assess writing when students use AI?
In this interactive session, teachers will experience AI-integrated writing tasks from a learner’s perspective and reflect on how to assess them fairly. Walk away with ready-to-use strategies, assessment criteria, and practical ideas to support student learning while implementing AI in today’s ESL writing classroom.

Terence Carlisle – Is that me? Speaking with Sound and Vision
Millennials and Gen Z are extremely media literate. Putting them in groups, giving them a topic and asking them to record themselves speaking on a particular topic generates considerable engagement. It piques their interest as they can use editing tools, music, graphics and, most importantly, subtitles. Learn how to use these techniques and more in my session!

Participants are sent a certificate of attendance after the event which is valid for ELT Council CPD hours.
