Uncovering the Reading Process - Using Literature in the Language Classroom - Rebecca Portelli
Reading is usually a private matter (which often happens outside of the sclassroom) and is considered a somewhat silent process, but in this session we "uncovered" some of the skills that strong readers rely on when encountering a new text. We examined what lies behind your strenght as a reader and explored what it means to be a strong reader in any language. We considered how to support readers of L2 by acknowledging and explicitly teaching sub-skills which expert readers make use of quite naturally throughout the reading process
